• The system antenna is installed atop the fuselage of the aircraft. It connects to a base plate that is customized for various models of air...
• The Modem Data Unit (MDU) in a Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) that is mounted above the cabin headliner within the aircraft cabin. It accepts data coming onto the aircraft from the HPA (in the form of Intermediate Frequency signals in the range of 950 MHz to 2000 Mhz), which is in turn connected to the antenna atop the plane.
• The Antenna Control Unit is responsible for controlling the top-mounted antenna's position relative to the movement of the aircraft. The ACU has an aircraft interface for collecting position and movement information from the on-board aircraft computer. Using this information, the ACU commands the antenna array to "point" towards the appropriate communication satellite.

• The High Power Amplifier (HPA) provides amplification of the transmit RF signal emanating from the Modem Data Unit (MDU). As such, the HPA provides the frequency block up-conversion of the Intermediate Frequency (IF) signal of 950 MHz to 1450 MHz to the 14.0 to 14.50 GHz RF signal.
• The system antenna is installed atop the fuselage of the aircraft. It connects to a base plate that is customized for various models of aircraft and is enclosed in a fiberglass radome, which is bolted to the base plate. The RF signals are carried into the aircraft via two coaxial cables to the High Power Amplifier.
