Row 44 Names John LaValle CEO

LaValle, Row 44’s Longtime COO and CFO, Will Help Position the Company for a Planned Multi-Continent Expansion in 2012

Westlake Village, CA (January 17, 2012) – Row 44, Inc., provider of the world’s leading In-Flight Broadband Entertainment Platform, announced today that John LaValle, the company’s longtime Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, has become Row 44’s CEO. Co-founder and former CEO John Guidon will assume the Chief Technical Officer role and remain on the company’s board of directors.

These changes reflect Row 44’s significant expansion plans, set to begin in early 2012, and will draw on both LaValle’s and Guidon’s respective strengths. Guidon, whose engineering expertise was essential in crafting the Row 44 in-flight broadband solution operating today on hundreds of planes, will now lead Row 44’s technology team as the company expands its focus into new industries that demand broadband connectivity but have geographic, logistical or other challenges to receiving it reliably and economically.

LaValle, a longtime technology executive who has led several companies to IPOs, secondary offerings and high-value acquisitions, will leverage his business and investment-community expertise to introduce Row 44 to new markets, partners and investors around the world. LaValle will also help Row 44 raise the capital to expand the company’s operations both geographically and into the new industries that Guidon’s team has already begun working to address.

Gregg Fialcowitz, Row 44’s co-founder and former president, has left the company to pursue a private aviation endeavor for which he has long been preparing.

“From a tiny startup with just a couple of dedicated employees, Row 44 has grown into a major innovator in in-flight broadband entertainment, now onboard a significant portion of the fleets of Southwest Airlines and Norwegian Air Shuttle – and still growing,” said John Guidon. “Because we are now ready to leverage our expertise and world-class partners like Hughes to bring this solution to new industries, I am eager to go back to my first love: engineering, developing new technology solutions.”

“I have been a proud member of the Row 44 team that has broken new ground bringing satellite-based broadband connectivity to commercial air travelers around the world,” said John LaValle. “We’re poised to grow this company into new solutions and new regions of the world – and I am thrilled to be able to lead us there.”
